Free checklistThe 90-Second Check

Could your family get into your iPhone?

Five questions. Keep this page open, check each one in your Settings, and tap your answer. Only a sure yes counts.

1
Have you chosen a Legacy Contact?
Settings›Your name›Sign-In & Security›Legacy Contact
Yes if a name is listed.
That person can request your photos and messages later.
2
Are your photos saving to iCloud?
Settings›Your name›iCloud›Photos
Yes if the sync switch at the top is green.
A Legacy Contact only gets what's in iCloud.
3
Can someone you trust reach your passwords?
Yes if they could find your password list without asking you.
Legacy Contact doesn't pass along saved passwords.
4
Have you told Google who gets your Gmail?
myaccount.google.com/inactive
Yes if a person is listed. No Gmail? Tap yes.
Your iPhone settings can't reach Gmail.
5
Would your family know not to cancel or erase anything yet?
Yes if you've told them, out loud or in writing.
A canceled number stops text codes. Erasing removes anything not backed up.
